Sean McDermott delivers mixed-emotions injury update ahead of Week 16

Going into yesterday’s game against the New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills had some injuries to overcome. They didn’t have CB Christian Benford or LB Terrel Bernard, but they did get WR Joshua Palmer back in the lineup. However, the defense was looking like it was going to struggle and they definitely did, atleast in the first half.
The good news is that they were able to make adjustments for the second half and only gave up seven points in Buffalo’s comeback win over New England. Now with the focus being on the Browns, head coach Sean McDermott has delivered an injury update that has mixed emotions for fans.
Bills fans get good and not-so good injury updates ahead of Week 16
According to Sal Capaccio, Sean McDermott reported that both Christian Benford and Terrel Bernard are “both improving” and that the Bills “may open WR Mecole Hardman’s IR window.” While that’s the good news, McDermott also delivered some not-so great news.
Per McDermott, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips will be out this week and now kicker Matt Prater is out this week with a quad injury.
Bills injury update via Sean McDermott:
– Benford/Bernard both improving
– Jordan Phillips will be out this week
– K Matt Prater is out this week (quad)
– Bills may open WR Mecole Hardman’s IR window

The biggest thing that stands out is the Prater news because now the Bills have to find themselves a new kicker for this week. Tyler Bass had surgery earlier this season and he won’t play either. Carpaccio then reported that Prater’s injury is considered week-to-week.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Bills take as far as who will be kicking field goals. Fans will have to keep a close eye out this week leading up to this Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
So, it’s a mixed injury update from McDermott. Some good and some bad, but now Bills fans will be seeing a new kicker for the foreseeable future, but hopefully will get some defensive help back against Cleveland.
