Another team is trying to pluck Yankees outfielder from New York

Cody Bellinger’s free agent market is heating up.
The former MVP spent the 2025 season with the Yankees, who hope to keep him in New York. But other teams are showing interest, too.
According to The San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, the Giants “have checked in on” the outfielder. A West Coast team like San Fransisco could be atttractive for Bellinger, who lives in Arizona.
Over 656 plate appearances this year, Bellinger slashed .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs. His agent, Scott Boras, is likely looking to land him the long-term deal he was unable to achieve during the 2023-24 season, before his last stint on the free agent market.
This time around, Bellinger, 30, is expected to have a lot of suitors — including the Mets. His defensive versatility would be a huge help for the Mets, who could put him at first base after losing Pete Alonso, or place him anywhere in the outfield.
