Alejandro Garnacho’s biggest flaw was just exposed at Chelsea, difference to Bryan Mbeumo is staggering

Alejandro Garnacho burned bridges on the way out of Manchester United after falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim.

It is often forgotten that Alejandro Garnacho was also dropped by Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby last season, alongside Marcus Rashford.

Amorim criticised Garnacho’s work rate, although the Carrington graduate did eventually work his way back into the squad.

However, Garnacho’s outburst at Amorim after the Europa League final marked the end of their relationship. According to reports, Amorim told Garnacho he better ‘pray’ to find a new club in the summer.

A £40 million move to Chelsea followed, and while Garnacho has shown glimpses of promise with the Blues, he still has a major flaw.

Alejandro Garnacho missing big chances at Chelsea

Chelsea beat Brighton 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon to climb up to fourth in the table, three points ahead of United.

Garnacho started the match at Stamford Bridge but was replaced just after the hour mark following a miserable performance in the final third.

According to SofaScore, Garnacho was the lowest-rated Chelsea player after missing three big chances against Brighton.

The 21-year-old attempted four shots but didn’t manage to get any of them on target. While at United, Garnacho was training to improve his finishing, but it still remains a big flaw in his game.

Garnacho scored 26 goals in 144 matches for United, and his replacement is already catching up to that number.

Bryan Mbeumo’s finishing compared to Alejandro Garnacho

As part of United’s summer attacking overhaul, Bryan Mbeumo was signed to add more goals to Amorim’s front line, and it has not taken him long to get going.

According to FotMob, Mbeumo boasts a shot conversion rate of 15.8% in the Premier League. In contrast, Garnacho’s conversion rate is as low as 6.7%.

Mbeumo has been an immediate upgrade on United’s attacking options, and he will be sorely missed while away on international duty at AFCON.
