Opponents of We Energies natural gas plants fear harm to environment
We Energies planned natural gas plants in the Town of Paris will create jobs but may have harmful health effects.
A power outage at WE Energies Valley Power Plant had created heating issues in Milwaukee’s downtown theater district earlier today, prompting the Marcus Performing Arts Center to cancel afternoon performances on Dec. 13.
The Valley Power Plant provides heat to most downtown buildings, including the Marcus Performing Arts Center, Fiserv Forum, Pabst Theater, Baird Center, and many others, according to a social media post by the performing arts center.
According to company spokesperson Alison Trouy, WE Energies has been working on the issues today. As of this afternoon, the company was delivering steam to all customers.
Trouy said the outage was caused by an interruption in gas supply to the Valley Power Plant, which produces steam to provide heat to some of WE Energies’ downtown customers.
Trouy said this issue has been resolved and WE Energies do not anticipate additional steam outages.
The Marcus canceled its afternoon programming, including The Pigeon Gets A Big Time Holiday Extravaganza and The Nutcracker.
