Two NJ lottery players in same town win $200,000 in Dec. 15 Powerball

Two lottery players in the same town both won $200,000 in the Monday, Dec. 15 Powerball drawing, the New Jersey Lottery announced.

Both tickets sold in Parsippany (Morris County) matched four white balls and the Powerball with the Power Play multiplier to win the $200K. In addition, another $50,000 was won in Cumberland County.

The winning tickets were sold at:

  • $200,000: sold at Wawa on New Road in Parsippany (Morris County)
  • $200,000: sold at Parsippany Shell on Route 46 East in Parsippany (Morris County)
  • $50,000: sold at Holly City Cold Cuts and Deli on North 10th Street in Millville (Cumberland County)

Powerball hits $1.25 billion

Meanwhile, no one matched all six numbers in the Monday, Dec. 15 drawing so the jackpot will increase to an estimated $1.25 billion for Dec. 17, according to the Powerball website. The cash option will be an estimated $572.1 million.

It will be the sixth biggest Powerball and 11th largest US lottery jackpot ever (see lists below).

The jackpot was last won on Sept. 6 when two lottery players from Missouri and Texas $1.787 billion jackpot – the second largest ever.

How do I play Powerball?

The cost is $2 per ticket, but you can add the Power Play for $1, which will increase the amount of your potential prize up to five times the original prize (except for the jackpot and Match 5). There is also a 10x Power Play possibility when the jackpot is less than $150 million.

Each player selects five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. However, you can also have the lottery machine generate a quick pick ticket with random numbers for you.
