Gay porn star Lane Rogers, who went by the stage name Blake Mitchell, has died at the age of 31. The adult film star was killed in a motorcycle accident Monday while visiting friends in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
According to an adult film industry blog, he collided with a box truck near the Pacific Coast Highway in Oxnard, a community about an hour from L.A., and the fire department arrived shortly after the crash was reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The film star made his debut in the adult film world in 2014 and quickly gained a following online. Soon after his death was announced on social media, there was an outpouring of love for the actor by his fellow adult film stars and his friends.
“@LaneVRogers was one of my longest friends in LA, and was such a genuinely kind and caring person. He made everyone around him better, and I’m deeply saddened to lose him,” one of his friends wrote on X. “I was supposed to see him the day after his passing, life changes so fast and I’m grateful that our last conversation was full of the love and friendship we shared. I will miss you so much.”
Another person who knew him wrote, “I am sad to hear of the passing of my friend @LaneVRogers in a tragic motorcycle accident! Anyone who knew him was lucky enough to know what fearless authenticity was. He was unapologetically himself, something I admired and envied him for! Rest in peace, dear one!”
The writer for the adult industry blog, who goes only by Zach, wrote in the post announcing his death about how they had formed a connection with Rogers. “I’ve covered Lane Rogers here since his debut as gay porn star Blake Mitchell in 2014, and throughout all that coverage (the awards, the movies, the interviews, the thirst traps, the book tour), never once did I think I’d be reporting something this unspeakably tragic,” the post reads. “I’m not sure if I’m in shock or disbelief, or an impossibly fucked up combination of both. I hope to share more later, including reactions from industry colleagues and peers, but right now, these words swirl in my head when I think of Lane: Relentlessly loyal, opinionated, brutally honest yet fair, forgiving, level-headed, hilarious, inquisitive, ethical, and endlessly full of life.”
Zach ended the post writing, “He so sincerely wanted everyone to be better and saw the good in everyone. He was among the brightest and most ambitious people I’ve ever known. Lane’s friendship over the last 10 years is one of the greatest gifts that running this website has ever given me.”
