Tulsk launches ‘Tulsk to Lapland’ walking challenge

The community of Tulsk is gearing up for an ambitious fundraiser, the ‘Tulsk to Lapland’ walking challenge, aimed at collectively covering 2,499 km – the exact distance from Tulsk to Lapland – in just 24 hours.
Organised by St Mary’s LGFA in collaboration with Tulsk GAA Club, the event seeks to clear the remaining debt on a €700,000 development project that includes a new pitch and perimeter walking track at the club’s training ground. The goal is to enter 2026 debt-free, allowing the facilities to benefit players and the wider community without financial burden.
Preparations are well underway, with club members and locals increasing their steps through regular evening walks under floodlights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The main event is a 24-hour walking marathon scheduled for December 26th and 27th, where participants will lap the new perimeter track continuously.
The wider community has enthusiastically embraced the initiative, with growing participation numbers highlighting Tulsk’s strong spirit of volunteerism.
Adding to the fun, a ‘waxathon’ fundraising event is planned for Sunday, December 21st at O’Connor’s Pub in Tulsk, promising entertainment as participants undergo waxing challenges.
