Police, fire crews and paramedics rushed to Stockport railway station before putting up a 200 metre cordon – sparking travel chaos.
The station was completely evacuated, with all trains coming in and out cancelled following the reported scare.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal units raced to the scene in Greek Street as nearby homes were also reportedly evacuated.
