NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The North Charleston Police Department has closed a major bridge in both directions early Thursday morning.
Police said just before 3:30 a.m. that the Don Holt Bridge on I-526 was closed in both directions.

Details were limited, with police only saying it was closed because of an “incident.” The South Carolina Department of Transportation said there was an “obstruction in the roadway.”
There was no word on when the bridge might reopen.
Drivers should seek alternative routes until further notice.
