Official injury update on Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall – New quotes from Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media this morning, discussing all things Newcastle United ahead of tomorrow’s early kick-off at home to Chelsea.

As expected, the early questions focused on our injury situation, specifically the latest updates on young full-backs Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall.

Hall wasn’t in the squad on Wednesday night due to a hamstring issue, while Livramento was forced off with 15 minutes to play with a concerning knee issue.

Starting with Tino, Howe has confirmed that he has not suffered a serious knee injury, which is a relief, but the issue is in a ‘similar area’ to previous injuries he’s suffered and it sounds like he won’t play again this year, ruling him out of upcoming games against Chelsea, Man Utd and Burnley.

As for Hall, it sounds like he should return tomorrow, with his hamstring issue more of a fatigue issue that he felt in the days after Sunderland, rather than a new injury.

Howe on Tino Livramento

“We don’t think it’s serious. The complication we have is Tino has injured that knee before in a very similar area.

“So I don’t think we’ll see him possibly before 2026. It’s a minor injury, but it’ll probably keep him out for a few weeks.”

Howe on Lewis Hall

“He could be [involved v Chelsea]. He felt some fatigue in his hamstring after the Sunderland game. It was more a couple of days after.

“He had a scan and it didn’t reveal too much so let’s see.”

Elsewhere, it sounds like four other defenders will be out once again this weekend in Kieran Trippier, Emil Krafth, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, meaning we could well see Lewis Miley at right-back once again.
