Angela Scanlon joined Dermot O’Leary on This Morning
This Morning viewers are calling for Angela Scanlon to be given a permanent role on the ITV programme following her guest presenting stint.
The Irish TV star appeared alongside Dermot O’Leary on Friday (December 19), stepping in as the latest celebrity host this week after Emma Willis was forced to withdraw due to sickness. It marked Angela’s debut appearance as a presenter on This Morning.
As the programme began, Dermot introduced her to audiences, saying: “For the first time ever – I can’t quite believe I am saying that, what have we been thinking of – look who joins us! Ladies and gentlemen, may I present Angela Scanlon!”
“Thank you, thank you,” she responded enthusiastically. “Isn’t it wild?”
“It is glorious, and I’m so happy to be popping my This Morning cherry with you, Dermot,” she added.
The star quickly won over audiences, with numerous people sharing their thoughts on social media, reports Wales Online.

“I like Angela, she is very mischievous, and I like that,” one viewer commented on X, previously known as Twitter.
Another person posted: “Angela Scanlon is FANTASTIC hosting This Morning. Needs to be full-time.”

One admirer described her as “a natural”. A different viewer commented: “Angela Scanlon makes This Morning instantly more watchable. She’d be my first choice to replace Claudia (Winkleman) on Strictly – similar adorable quirky energy.”
Someone else proposed that Angela shared “better chemistry” with Dermot compared to some of the other guest presenters who have filled in.

Nevertheless, some viewers admitted they weren’t familiar with who she was. “Who is this woman?” one puzzled viewer questioned, whilst another asked: “Who’s the new presenter with Dermot, please?”
The usual hosts of This Morning are Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, who front the show Monday through Thursday, with Dermot and Alison Hammond stepping in on Fridays. When they take time off, a rotating selection of guest presenters typically fills in.
At the beginning of the week, Dermot informed viewers that Emma Willis had originally been scheduled to co-host alongside him.

He explained, “Full disclosure, Emma Willis was supposed to be in this week. Emma is a little bit poorly. So we are sending her a big love.”
