Texas Holiday Music Fans Cannot Stop Playing This One Song

When it comes to holiday music, everyone has their own rules. Some people start blasting Christmas songs the second the calendar flips to November. Others proudly play Whamageddon and avoid festive music for as long as humanly possible.

But no matter which camp you fall into, there’s one thing that’s become very clear this year: one Christmas song is absolutely dominating holiday playlists in Texas- and it’s probably not the one you’re expecting!

Search Data Shows One Song Rising Fast In Texas

New Google search data analyzed by music platform Chordify reveals a shift in Christmas music habits across the country in 2024. While several classics are still holding strong nationwide, one song has seen a major spike in interest, especially in Texas.

That song is José Feliciano’s 1970 holiday classic “Feliz Navidad.”

According to the data, Feliz Navidad is the fastest-growing Christmas song search of the year, topping holiday searches in Texas along with a handful of other regions, including Florida and New York.

Why Feliz Navidad Is Suddenly Everywhere

If it feels like Feliz Navidad is popping up everywhere this season, there’s a reason.

Chordify points to TikTok trends, social media, and playlist culture as major drivers behind the song’s renewed popularity. As younger listeners rediscover older holiday tracks online, classic songs are finding new audiences- and getting a second life far beyond traditional Christmas radio rotations.

Nostalgia Is Having A Big Christmas Moment

Texas may be helping push Feliz Navidad to the top, but the rest of the country is also leaning heavily into nostalgic holiday favorites.

Chordify’s data shows that Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” was the most-searched Christmas song in ten states. That’s a song I can’t hear without thinking of Home Alone!

Wham!’s “Last Christmas” surged across several northern states despite those who are participating in Whamageddon.

The trend suggests that 2024’s holiday mood is more about comfort, familiarity, and classics that have stood the test of time.

One of the biggest takeaways from the study is how people are finding Christmas music now. Instead of relying on traditional radio airplay, listeners are discovering holiday songs through streaming platforms, viral videos, and curated playlists, where older tracks can suddenly trend alongside newer releases.

That shift has allowed songs like Feliz Navidad- which has been around for more than five decades- to feel brand-new again!
