Collision involving school bus closes road in north Barrie

Police haven’t confirmed whether children were on bus at the time of two-vehicle crash

A collision involving a school bus closed a Barrie street Thursday afternoon.

City police were called to the area of Lillian Crescent and Cundles Road at about 2:45 p.m.

Jennett Mays, Barrie Police Service spokesperson, was asked if there were children on the bus.

“There may have been, given the time, but I wouldn’t want to confirm that without hearing directly from officers on scene,” said Mays, who noted it was a two-vehicle collision.

“It looks like the driver of the (other) vehicle may have been transported to a local hospital, but I don’t know about the severity of any injuries there.”

She had no details about what led to the crash and whether there were charges laid.

“It would be way too early to determine that, until traffic officers are finished their investigation,” Mays said before 4 p.m.

Cundles Road was closed between Coulter Street and Lillian Crescent.
