‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ Wraps Principal Photography

Shawn Levy’s forthcoming Star Wars: Starfighter just reached another milestone as the director has announced principal photography has concluded. The filmmaker just posted to his Instagram page that he is now beginning post-production work on the film. The caption reads, “That’s a wrap! Headed into #Starfighter post-production like…”
Is this a peek at one of the sets from the movie?
Given that Starfighter won’t release until May 28, 2027 (in time for the saga’s 50th anniversary), Levy and his team have more than enough time for reshoots, editing, and visual effects work for the film. It seems 2027 will be quite a year at the cinema for Star Wars fans, as just months before Starfighter’s release, the saga’s first film will return to theaters in its original 1977 iteration.
Starfighter itself should have plenty to offer fans. In addition to a stacked cast featuring the likes of Ryan Gosling, Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, and Matt Smith (who finished work on the movie just days ago), the movie’s crew includes acclaimed cinematographer Claudio Miranda whose work on Top Gun: Maverick wowed audiences worldwide just a few years ago.

Eric has been a fan of Star Wars ever since the age of five (or so) when his parents sat him down in front of a TV with pizza and a Sprite and showed him the original trilogy. He keeps trying to convince more fans to read the amazing 1980s Star Wars newspaper comics by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson. When he’s not reading, watching or playing Star Wars media, he’s often enjoying other great fantasy and science fiction sagas or playing roleplaying games with his friends.
