Cable theft hits Greater Anglia services to London for second weekend in a row | ITV News

Rail services on a major commuter line have been cancelled and disrupted after thieves stole cables for the second weekend running.
Greater Anglia said that services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street were affected after cables were stolen at Shenfield in Essex, which knocked out the signalling.
It is the second weekend in a row that cable thieves have struck at Shenfield.
In a post on X, the train company said that Network Rail engineers had made temporary repairs to the signalling system but there would still be a limited service running to and from Liverpool Street.
Passengers are being advised to check the Greater Anglia website for disruption before they travel.
Earlier this month Greater Anglia became the third operator to be nationalised by the Labour Government.
The Department for Transport (DfT) said Greater Anglia would “continue to thrive” under public ownership and “be used as a benchmark for other operators”.
