Is Nico Collins Hurt? Breaking Down if the Texans Star Is Injured Amid Slow Start in Week 7 vs. Seahawks

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has been a trusted outlet for Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud while with the team. Collins has had injury issues at times, but so far on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks, he’s been pretty quiet.

Collins has been doing his best to get loose for Stroud to find him, but unfortunately, the dynamic playmaker has failed to make an impact.

What’s Wrong With Texans’ WR Nico Collins?

With Houston’s offense struggling on the field, Collins has not been too active. As the game wound toward halftime and the Seahawks holding a 14-6 lead, Collins had four catches for 27 yards on six targets.

On one key play, though, Collins dropped a Stroud pass. The Texans offense has not been able to get on track thanks to a fierce Seahawks pass rush.

Collins, though, in the fourth quarter hit his head hard onto the field while near the sidelines. He was taken out of the game and went into the blue tent. Collins was being checked for a concussion and later was going back to the Texans locker room. It appears that Collins is now out for the rest of the game.

While he was in the game, Collins was able to run routes downfield and do his best to get open. Collins tried to show up more in the second half.

In the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics heading into Monday night’s game, the Texans offense had a 74.2 Offense Impact Score, ranked 18th in the league and graded out with a C. As for the PFSN WR Impact metrics, Collins had an 80.7 WR Impact Score and graded out with a B-.

Collins was a third-round draft choice out of Michigan by the Texans in the 2021 NFL Draft. So far this season, Collins has 22 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns. He’s averaging 14.2 yards per catch.

He’s in his fifth season in the NFL, all with the Texans. For his career, Collins has 240 catches for 3,542 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Ever since Stroud joined the Texans, he and Collins have created some magical moments on the field. Collins has proven to be a stellar performer when out there. Keeping him healthy, though, has been an important part of his story with the team.

For the Texans offense that looked to find another gear in the second half against the Seahawks, Collins was going to have to get open more often. Stroud was going to have to hit him in stride. Stroud, though, struggled to stay in the pocket.

With Collins out now, Stroud will have to find other Texans receivers late in the game.
