Residents across the South West are bracing for a blustery and unsettled week as forecasters warn of thunder, hail and coastal gales sweeping through the region.
Clear spells will be interrupted by heavy showers overnight on Sunday, with the potential for thunder and hail to strike before dawn.
The wind is expected to pick up sharply by morning, particularly along the coast, where gales may develop.
Temperatures will remain in the low double figures, with a minimum of 10°C forecast.
Monday will bring a mix of sunshine and showers, though the wet weather could turn heavy at times.
Strong winds are likely to persist, especially near the coast, where gusts may continue into the early part of the day.
Despite the stormy outlook, temperatures are forecast to hover around or slightly above the seasonal average, with highs of 16°C.
Conditions are expected to improve slightly on Tuesday, with fewer showers and brighter spells across the region.
However, the relief will be short-lived as another bout of unsettled weather moves in midweek.
Wednesday and Thursday will see a return to rain and frequent showers, accompanied by strong winds. Temperatures will stay close to average for this time of year.
Looking further ahead, forecasters anticipate continued changeable weather patterns.
A low-pressure system moving east into the North Sea is expected to bring bouts of rain and gusty winds on Friday, followed by a colder northerly flow into the weekend.
Inland areas could enjoy some sunny spells, while coastal locations remain showery.
As the new week progresses, a shift to a more westerly pattern is predicted, with rain and wind likely to affect many parts of the UK — particularly in northern and western regions.
Temperatures are set to remain close to or slightly below the seasonal norm.
