Search operation underway for missing person in Galway

A search operation is currently underway in Galway after reports of a missing person in the city.
A multi-agency search has been launched in Galway since Wednesday night, October 15 which has seen the Irish Coast Guard deployed as well as RNLI Galway Lifeboats.
Rescue teams worked overnight for the recovery of the missing person and continued on Thursday morning and afternoon.
Costello Bay and Cleggan coast guard units along with Rescue 115 were also out in Galway Bay this morning, October 16 and confirmed that there was nothing further to report, but that the operation would continue.
Sharing the incident on Thursday, Rescue 115 said: “Rescue 115 is now safely back at Shannon after tasking to Galway to continue a missing person recovery operation, more assets now involved including RNLI Galway and Aran Lifeboats, Costello Bay and Cleggan Irish Coast Guard Units and OMCSU. Nothing to report, this operation will continue.”
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told the Irish Independent: “Gardaí attended the scene following report of an incident in Galway City, on Wednesday October 15 2025.”
