The Montreal Canadiens announced a shakeup of their roster ahead of their first West Coast trip of the season. Joshua Roy and Marc Del Gaizo were recalled, while Owen Beck was sent back to the Laval Rocket.

Beck played in the last two games for the Canadiens on the fourth line with Joe Veleno and Zachary Bolduc. The fact that the Canadiens have only 12 healthy forwards by swapping Beck and Roy, it should mean that Kirby Dach and/or Patrik Laine are ready to return.
Roy had three goals and an assist in four AHL games this season.
The reason that Del Gaizo was recalled and not someone like Adam Engström is likely because they don’t want a young player being the extra defender. Del Gaizo had no points in four games in Laval, but played 46 NHL games for the Nashville Predators last season where he had two goals and seven assists.
The 26-year-old would make his Canadiens debut if called upon on the road trip.
