One player is guaranteed to win a World Series ring, no matter the outcome of Dodgers vs. Blue Jays

The Fall Classic is now set. After the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the ALCS, they’ll be the ones looking to take down the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

In a strange twist of fate, a rather unknown infielder will become a World Series champion one way or the other. Infielder Buddy Kennedy will be receiving a World Series ring regardless of the outcome, as he suited up for both the Blue Jays and Dodgers during the 2025 season. Kennedy also played briefly for the Philadelphia Phillies, who were eliminated by the Dodgers in the NLDS.

Kennedy barely saw the field in his stints with each team. He suited up for two games with the Blue Jays, going one for six with a double, and seven for the Dodgers, going one for 18 with one RBI. He also appeared in just four games with the Phillies.

Kennedy is currently in the Blue Jays’ farm system, and is in Triple-A as of now. Kennedy was not on any of the postseason rosters for Toronto.

Despite his significantly brief Major League stints in 2025, Kennedy will be able to call himself a World Series champion upon the series’ conclusion, which has to feel good for someone who’s only appeared in 67 Major League games in his eight-year professional career.
