DONČIĆ ON A NEW ASSIGNMENT AND IT’S IN FOOTBALL: Luka appointed as a FIFA ambassador in one of the biggest cities in America!
This season, Luka Dončić, alongside Nikola Jokić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, will be the biggest favorite to win the MVP title in the NBA league, and before the start of the season, he also received a new role, but not in basketball.
Namely, the Slovenian basketball player has become the new FIFA ambassador for the Los Angeles area. The world’s governing football body decided on this move to promote the World Cup, which will be held next year in the United States of America.
Dončić is known as a great football fan, a supporter of Crvena Zvezda and Real Madrid, so it is somewhat with reason that he received this role ahead of the big tournament that will take place on North American soil next year. On this occasion, Dončić stated:
-I am very proud. The FIFA World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and I am very excited. I have always watched football, and I still watch it now. It is a big part of my life – said Dončić and continued:
-Los Angeles is a very beautiful city with a great culture. Football in America is becoming increasingly popular, especially here in Los Angeles, and I think that is why it is ideal that this city will be one of the hosts. Sport can bring out the best in people, especially during the World Cup. People gather to watch the matches together, to watch the best players in the world play for their countries. I am very excited to be an ambassador for all of that – the Slovenian basketball player emphasized.
As things stand, there is very little probability that Dončić will cheer on his national team at the next World Cup. Slovenia is third in Group B with only three points from four matches. Switzerland is unattainable with ten points, while the so-called “Kosovo” selection is second with seven points.
