A new Boston-filmed movie is coming to the big screen in 2026.
“The Drama,” an A24 romantic drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, will reportedly drop next spring. In October 2024, the movie was seen filming all around Boston, including everywhere from the Financial District to Andover. The film will join an extensive lineup of movies filmed in Boston, including “Good Will Hunting,” “Patriots Day” and “Ted.”

When is ‘The Drama’ coming to theaters?
According to Deadline, “The Drama” is currently planned to release on Friday, April 3, 2026. The movie will share the Easter weekend release with “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”
What is ‘The Drama’ about?
While full plot details have not yet been revealed, Deadline Hollywood originally reported in August 2024 that the film seems to be a romantic drama which takes an unexpected turn before the wedding of the lead couple, played by Zendaya and Pattinson.
The film will be produced by A24 and is written and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli. Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie and Hailey Gates are among the other actors in the film.
Where in Boston did ‘The Drama’ film?
While no exact filming locations were confirmed by the movie’s production team, last October, both Zendaya and Pattinson were seen filming in various spots across the city.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, both actors were seen at Phillips Academy in Andover, according to a Zendaya fan account on X. The movie supposedly filmed in Addison Art Gallery, an American art collection on the private boarding school’s campus.
Other locations where the stars and crew were spotted include Beacon St. in Kenmore Square, Arch St. in downtown Boston and the intersection of Federal St. and High St. in the Financial District.
