Who will coach for the Blazers after Chauncey Billups’ arrest?

After Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups’ arrest for his alleged role in an illegal poker operation, the franchise has turned to another former NBA player to lead the team.

Trail Blazers assistant Tiago Splitter will take on interim coaching duties in Billups’ absence, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania. Splitter most notably played for the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks in his NBA days and has coached with the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets as an assistant.

Now, he’ll get his chance to lead the Trail Blazers through an incredibly difficult time as Billups will undoubtedly be away from the team for an extended period of time. Splitter can make his case for the main role should Billups be dismissed by the organization at any point in the process.

We’ll see what happens with Billups after his arrest and how Splitter does in his interim duties in Portland.
