Kate Garraway admitted she was unaware of Tom Daley’s eye rolls gesture during an episode of Celebrity Traitors.

The side-eye from the five-time Olympic medallist in the second episode of the show went viral on social media earlier this month. Daley’s actions were in response to the broadcaster declaring herself “flabbergasted” after the ‘murder’ of singer Paloma Faith following a coffin-themed challenge.

Garraway, 58, admitted on Good Morning Britain last week that she didn’t have a clue that the former synchronised swimmer was subjecting her to eye rolls.

While presenting the morning show alongside Adil Ray, with the pair being joined by comedian Melvin Odoom, the conversation soon turned to the hit BBC show as Garraway revealed: “You don’t (know) until it goes out. So I didn’t notice that. I was just flabbergasted.”

Daley, who was ‘murdered’ in episode three was asked about his iconic side eye during an interview with the Metro and he admitted his surprise to his facial reaction.

“I don’t even remember me having any kind of reaction to it,” the 31-year-old said while laughing. “When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, there was no poker face from me.'”

Garraway delved further into the reaction the viral clip got inside her own household during her Good Morning Britain duties, admitting the show resulted in an in-depth conversation with her children.

She said: “The weird thing for me is like everyone at home we don’t know anything that is happening, we don’t know about the people talking about us behind our back and it prompted a massive conversation with my kids last night.

“‘Oh my gosh people are talking about you behind your back, what is going to happen’. It allowed me to have the conversation with them that this is a game and everyone in there is playing a game.

“Actually in life you can’t control what people say about you so you just have to be yourself. I just had to say that so people don’t blame Tom Daley or anyone else.”

Daley, who made his Olympic Games debut at Beijing 2008 at just 14 years old, retired from competition following the conclusion of Paris 2024 where he and Noah Williams clinched the silver medal in the 10 metre platform synchronised event.

The silver was the fifth Olympic medal that the Brit had won, following his lone gold at Tokyo 2020 in the 10 metre synchronised platform diving with Matty Lee. He earned a further three bronzes across three other Games.
