ATP Basel Quarterfinal Predictions Including Casper Ruud vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

The quarterfinals are set at ATP Basel featuring a strong lineup on what promises to be an entertaining day of tennis. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate – but which players will advance to the semifinals?
ATP Basel Quarterfinal Predictions
Joao Fonseca vs Denis Shapovalov
Head-to-head: first meeting
Joao Fonseca is in his first ATP quarterfinal since winning the title in Buenos Aires, with Jakub Mensik withdrawing from the second round match to hand Fonseca a walkover. Denis Shapovalov. meanwhile, came back from a break down in the opening set against Valentin Royer to win the opening set and ultimately run away with the match. This will be a challenge that Shapovalov would like, and he can go toe to toe with the 19-year-old in terms of power. Ultimately, the player who remains more consistent will win this and, given Shapovalov recent form and experience, that will probably be the Canadian.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 3

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Jaume Munar
Head-to-head: Auger-Aliassime 1-1 Munar
Felix Auger-Aliassime extended his win streak to six matches as he defeated the potentially dangerous Marin Cilic in straight sets. The Canadian was more consistent during the curcial moments which proved to be the difference on the day at ATP Basel. Jaume Munar once again got the better of Ben Shelton without dropping a set and is playing the best (indoor) tennis of his career as he makes a strong end to the season. His chip return caused a lot of problems for the American, who looked out of sorts for most of the match. However, Auger-Aliassime will deal with it better and has a better game on these courts.
Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3
Reilly Opelka vs Ugo Humbert
Head-to-head: first meeting
Former semifinalist Reilly Opelka was in the midst of a five-match losing streak when he arrived at ATP Basel , but he has turned around his form and is now in the quarterfinals. He got a hard-fought win over Botic van de Zandschulp, where he hit 29 aces and remained unbroken. He will like his chances against Ugo Humbert if he keeps serving like this. Humbert took out the top seed, Taylor Fritz, with a fantastic performance, but he won’t get much rhythm against Opelka and will most likely have to come up clutch in the tiebreaks.
Prediction: Humbert in 3

Casper Ruud vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Head-to-head: Ruud 3-2 Fokina
Casper Ruud came back from a break down in both sets to defeat Stan Wawrinka, ending the Swiss’ hopes to the disappointment of the ATP Basel crowd, and reach his first quarterfinal at this event. His confidence is extremely high right now, which is helping him with clarity and making the right decisions on the court. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina should be the toughest test for him so far this week, but his better serve gives him a slight advantage.
Prediction: Ruud in 3
