Apple Martin Just Added ‘Singer’ to Her Résumé

Even though she has campaigns for Self Portrait and Gap already under her belt, Apple Martin is adding another accomplishment to her résumé. On Friday, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin surprised the crowd at Cannery Hall in Nashville by singing on stage with Jade Street, a band formed at Vanderbilt University, where she’s currently a senior. Sounds like her fall semester is going pretty well.

According to the school’s student newspaper, The Vanderbilt Hustler, Martin’s father — the Grammy-winning front man of Coldplay — was present in the audience and cheering her on. Her mom, the founder of Goop, was not in attendance, although I’m sure she sent along a care package stocked with jade eggs to make up for missing it.

Martin participates in a variety of creative projects on Vanderbilt’s campus, including a cabaret group. She’s also apparently working on a short film with two of her friends. “It feels like there’s this little creative collective at Vandy that I’ve found, and it makes me excited to wake up and do the day,” she told The Cut.

Although she’s a law, history, and society major, Martin told Interview Magazine she’s contemplating taking a theater course before she graduates. Maybe she can teach the Coldplay couple a thing or two about acting cool on camera.

Stay in touch.
