7 Things – Stamps @ Elks

The Week 21 matchup marks the last meeting between these two teams and the Stampeders final regular-season game of the year. Calgary enters this week’s action fighting for sole possession of second place in the West Division.

PLAYOFF SCENARIOS:

  1. If Calgary wins, BC loses, and Winnipeg loses, Calgary will host BC.

  3. If Calgary loses, BC loses, and Winnipeg wins, Calgary will host BC.

WEEK 21 SCHEDULE:

  • Calgary plays at Edmonton on Friday, October 24 at 7:30 PM
  • Winnipeg hosts Montreal on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 PM
  • BC plays at Saskatchewan on Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 PM

2. Them

Edmonton is coming off a 37-24 loss at the hands of the BC Lions. The loss officially ended playoff hopes for the West Division squad.

Although there’s no post-season games on the horizon, the Elks will still be motivated to play as they have an opportunity to spoil the night for a Stamps team that is looking to secure a home playoff game.

3. Head to Head

This is the third and final meeting of the 2025 seasons between the Stamps and Elks.

Friday’s game is the series decider between the provincial rivals as the Stamps secured the Labour Day Classic victory 28-7 at McMahon Stadium on Sep. 1 and the Elks prevailed 31-19 in the rematch five days later in Edmonton.

4. Fast Facts

  • Tailback Dedrick Mills enters the final week of the regular-season with a league-leading 1,340 rushing yards and a 155-yard lead on BC’s James Butler, who sits second in the race for the CFL rushing crown. Mills, who is bidding to become the 11th Stampeder in franchise history to win the league rushing crown, also is first in the CFL with 44 carries of at least 10 yards and is tied with Butler for the most rushing majors with 11.
  • Cornerback Adrian Greene heads into the final weekend of play with a share of the league lead with six interceptions. The first-year Stamp came into 2025 with three career picks over 42 games with the BC Lions in his first seasons in the league. Greene has returned two of the interceptions for touchdowns, making him the first Stamp to have multiple pick-sixes in a season since Keon Raymond in 2011.
  • Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. last week became the 39th player in CFL history to throw for 20,000 yards. He needs 38 passing yards in the regular-season.

5. Who’s Where

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: LB Jacob Roberts: Roberts has been a force for Calgary’s defence all season, leading the team with 93 tackles. The second-year Stamp is just seven tackles away from 100 on the season, a feat that would be a first for Roberts. Look for the aggressive linebacker to make his mark in a tight Battle of Alberta.

Elks: RB Justin Rankin: The second-year tailback is having a career season posting 1,012 yards through 17 games played with nine touchdowns. The speedy back was a problem for the Stamps in the Labour Day rematch with two touchdowns and a 200-yard performance.

7. Quotable

“We’re going to play who is healthy and try to win. There is a lot to play for and we’d love to have a shot at a home playoff game.” – General manager and head coach Dave Dickenson on the game plan heading into the final regular-season game of the season.
