Red-hot Harry Wilson had winners at 6-1, 7-2, 9-4 on Friday – find out his tips for Cheltenham, plus Doncaster and Newbury’s ITV races

Harry Wilson returns with his advice for all seven races from Cheltenham on Saturday, plus the four live races on ITV from Doncaster and Newbury
1.10 Cheltenham
William Hill Each Way Extra Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase, 2m4f
Harry’s tip: Newton Tornado
Newton Tornado performed well over hurdles, notably finishing a close second on the New course here when conceding 7lb to the highly regarded Diva Luna. A 3m point winner, he can get off to the perfect start over fences off what looks a workable mark of 121.

1.30 Doncaster
Skill Step Group Handicap, 5f
Harry’s tip: Germanic
Germanic likely needed his return after wind surgery at Haydock, which came on ground quicker than ideal. He’s expected to bounce back, given his best turf RPR came on soft ground on his only visit to Doncaster. The cheekpieces he wore for the only time that day now return and he’s 5lb lower. He looks a huge price.

Play William Hill’s Final One Standing Novices’ Hurdle, 3m
Harry’s tip: Conman John
Conman John won a 2m5f novice hurdle at Kelso this month, pulling clear of the third with the runner-up, who was in receipt of 5lb. This 3m point winner shaped like this longer trip would suit and is taken to build on that promise.
Jky: Derek Fox Tnr: Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore
2.05 Doncaster
William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes (Group 1), 1m
Harry’s tip: Hawk Mountain
I don’t think Benvenuto Cellini’s form is as strong as Hawk Mountain, who relished his first encounter with soft ground when landing the Beresford Stakes. The way he pulled away late on was striking and there could be considerably more to come.
Jky: Ronan Whelan Tnr: A P O’Brien
2.20 Cheltenham
William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase, 3m1f
Harry’s tip: The Short Go
The Short Go did well to finish fifth in the Ultima here in March, when his jumping left a bit to be desired. He fell on his previous start, so maybe just lacked confidence, which has hopefully been rectified in his break. He was second in this race last year and looks to be on a workable mark.
Jky: Darragh O’Keeffe Tnr: Henry De Bromhead
2.40 Doncaster
William Hill Prospect Stakes (Listed), 6f
Harry’s tip: Lam Yai
Lam Yai produced a career best in defeat when back on soft ground last time, showing good pace and pulling clear with the winner in the Firth Of Clyde. A repeat of that will make her hard to beat.
Jky: Shane Gray Tnr: K R Burke
2.55 Cheltenham
Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle, 3m
Harry’s tip: Winning Smut
Winning Smut has shown big improvement on his past three starts, most recently when making up for a narrow defeat at Killarney with a comfortable Listed handicap success at Galway in August when last seen. He looks to have been freshened up with this in mind and has more to offer.
Jky: Jack Kennedy Tnr: Gordon Elliott
3.10 Newbury
BetVictor Horris Hill Stakes (Group 3), 7f
Harry’s tip: Wechaad
Wechaad comfortably won a 7f nursery at Doncaster last month, relishing his first encounter with ground slower than good. He was just 0.04sec per furlong slower than Aylin, who landed the Group 2 May Hill on the same card. He can take this step up in class in his stride.
Jky: Ray Dawson Tnr: Roger Varian
3.30 Cheltenham
Masterson Holdings Hurdle, 2m½f
Harry’s tip: Give It To Me Oj
Give It To Me Oj sets the standard by some margin, having beaten older rivals under a big weight in a valuable novice handicap hurdle at Sandown in April. He confirmed his wellbeing with two wins on the Flat last month and is the one to beat.
Jky: Caoilin Quinn Tnr: Gary & Josh Moore
3.45 Newbury
BetVictor St Simon Stakes (Group 3), 1m4f
Harry’s tip: Starzintheireyes
Starzintheireyes, who looked good when winning the Zetland last year, shaped well on his belated reappearance at Goodwood last month, staying on well in a race not run to suit. He’s entitled to take a step forward and should be suited by this extra emphasis on stamina.

4.05 Cheltenham
William Hill Extra Places With Bog ‘Chasing Excellence’ Novices’ Chase, 3m1f
Harry’s tip: Intense Approach
Intense Approach won what looked like a hot 2m6½f beginners’ chase at Galway in August, gamely fending off late challengers. His four wins over hurdles included the 3m novice on this card last year and this well-regarded sort could have much more to come over fences.
Jky: Alex Harvey Tnr: John C McConnell
4.40 Cheltenham
Oddschecker Open National Hunt Flat Race, 2m½f
Harry’s tip: Bells Grove
John McConnell has a 29 per cent strike-rate in British bumpers over the past five seasons, so his Bells Grove needs respect. He went down by just a neck to one from Willie Mullins over 2m2f last month, headed close home after hitting the front, and could put that experience to good use.
