Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies said Strictly Come Dancing was “the biggest opportunity” of her life so far. The businesswoman took part in the 2021 series, performing alongside one of the show’s professional dancers, Aljaz Skorjanec.
While she blossomed throughout the process, Sara’s dancing journey ended in week eight after losing a dance-off to Tilly Ramsay – a decision that left her in tears.
Reflecting on her stint four years on, she told The Times: “I felt like it was the biggest opportunity of my life, and something purely for me.”
The 41-year-old’s latest comments come after she admitted to being “desperate” to do the show.
She previously told The Telegraph: “I was desperate to do that show. Literally, I got myself an agent and I said, ‘My life’s goal is to get on Strictly’.
“And it wasn’t just because I was desperate to dance with a really sexy, hot man.”

Sara said she found a good friend in Aljaz, who this year is dancing with RuPaul’s Drag Race star La Voix.
The professional dancer was by the businesswoman’s side when she “really struggled” to process being voted out of the BBC show.
Sara admitted to “crying uncontrollably” once the judges made their decision, and compared signing up to Strictly to stepping into an “alternative universe”.
The television star’s stint on the show came two years after she joined Dragons’ Den.
Earlier this year, she announced that she had “taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business” – a crafting company she launched in 2005.
Writing on Instagram, Sara said: “As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year.
“And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.

“As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.
“It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation. It’s so much more than a TV show.
“That’s why I’ve taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby!”
She went on to confirm that because of this she “won’t be filming with the year this year for the next series”.
Sara won’t be leaving the world of television for good however, as next year she’ll be a regular contestant on Gary Lineker’s new ITV game show, The Box.
“I am a competitive person, but this is definitely outside my comfort zone,” she added.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.25pm on BBC One.
