A number of supermarkets have issued product recalls in recent weeks. Now may be a good time to check your fridge, freezer and cupboards to see if there are any impacted products in your possession.

If you have purchased a product that has been taken off shelves and websites, you should stop using it immediately and return it to your nearest store for a full refund – no receipt needed.

Food can be recalled for a number of reasons, for example contamination with pathogens like listeria or salmonella that could give you food poisoning, or because of manufacturing faults, such as plastic or metal being found in the product.

Incorrect or missing allergen information can also lead to an allergen recall. The Food Standards Agency says: “Food businesses are responsible for recalling products that are unsafe. We work closely with local authorities and the food industry to publish alerts to consumers when food products are recalled.”

The latest product recalls for supermarkets are below. The Food Standards Agency regularly shares recalls, it is responsible for food safety and food hygiene in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It works with local authorities to enforce food safety regulations
