Panthers great Cam Newton gets into ‘fight’ with Alabama A&M’s mascot on live TV

Butch Henry might not have been aware of Cam Newton’s game.

The Carolina Panthers legend got into a bit of a squabble with Butch, Alabama A&M’s bulldog mascot, on live television this morning. Their “fight” went down after Butch was outrun in a sprint by Alabama State mascot Stinger during Friday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take.

Watch as Newton throws hands on the bulldog . . .

Butch wouldn’t have been Newton’s first victim. Cam has famously (and somewhat infamously) handled his business before.

Just ask former cornerback and teammate Josh Norman, who felt Newton’s power during their training camp fight in 2015.

Olympic gold medalist Nathan Adrian also got the work. Newton knocked out the swimmer in a boxing challenge on the last season of FOX’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Oh, and if one-on-one battles weren’t convincing enough, Newton has also successfully taken on multiple challengers at the same time—like in 2024.

So Butch is lucky that the race was the only thing he lost when he stepped to Newton, because his head might’ve been next.
