What seemed like a wobble is growing into a potential disaster for McLaren. They may have already sealed the Constructors Championship, but the team is now four consecutive races without a win. Add to that the Flying Dutchman’s electric form — three victories in the last four — and there will now be a lot of nervous pacing around the garage by Andrea Stella and co.
The starting grid for the Mexican Grand Prix sees Lando Norris on pole position. Right behind him are the two Ferrari drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, in second and third place respectively, followed by George Russell in fourth. Max Verstappen starts only fifth, while Oscar Piastri – the current World Championship leader – had a difficult session and will line up seventh on the grid.
Some of those nerves will have been eased by Norris’s fantastic qualifying performance that saw him speed to a fabulous pole position, two rows ahead of Verstappen in fifth. Piastri continues to stall, however, starting all the way back in seventh. You can see the full list of grid positions further down this page, ahead of today’s race that starts at 4 p.m ET / 8 p.m GMT.
