West Indies bat in Chattogram; Bangladesh leave out Mahedi

Toss West Indies opt to bat vs Bangladesh

West Indies captain Shai Hope decided to bat first after winning the toss against Bangladesh in the first T20I in Chattogram. It is the natural decision on the Chattogram pitch which favours teams batting first.

The visitors have picked a deep batting lineup, including their ODI top-order that includes Brandon King and Alick Athanaze. They have an experienced middle order, before the allrounders Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd get to the middle.

Bangladesh meanwhile have a shorter batting line-up with Rishad Hossain promoted to No 7. Rishad scored 68 runs at a strike rate of 206.06 in the three ODIs, the best for any batter to score more than 10 runs. They are playing five bowlers though they haven’t included Mahedi Hasan who usually opens the bowling.
