HBO & Sky Series ‘War’ Adds Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed To Leads Dominic West, Sienna Miller

War, the HBO and Sky co-production from the pen of Hijack creator George Kay, has added further names to a cast that will be led by Dominic West and Sienna Miller.
Celia Imrie (The Thursday Murder Club) and Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) have both joined as series regulars Budgie and Michael Stefanou respectively. Their casting marks a reunion of sorts after Imrie and Mohammed have starred in The Celebrity Traitors on the BBC in recent weeks.
War follows two of London’s most prestigious rival law firms – Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne – as they go head-to-head in the divorce case of the century. Each side is certain they’ll win. But as the case spirals and loyalties fracture, reputations are on the line, and everyone’s playing to win. It is an anthology series with a new case each season.
The Crown’s West plays tech titan Morgan Henderson, and Anatomy of a Scandal’s Miller stars as his estranged wife, international film star Carla Duval. Their “scandalous divorce case sends shockwaves through boardrooms, bedrooms, and courtrooms alike.”
Other newly announced cast members include Shaheen Jafargholi (Lost Boys and Fairies), Akiya Henry (Protection), Rose Williams (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris), Camille Coduri (Big Boys), Aran Murphy (Klara and the Sun), Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir), Miles Jupp (The Full Monty), Kartanya Maynard (Heartbreak High), Alexandra Mardell (Smoggie Queens), Mark Quartley (Inside Man), and Steve Furst (I Fought The Law).
Season 1 also stars Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens, and Archie Renaux.
Deadline understands that War was developed by Sky and greenlit last summer before the Comcast-backed broadcaster took it to HBO, which recently came on board.
Kay is the man behind the Idris Elba-fronted plane thriller Hijack for Apple, as well as Netflix’s French series Lupin and Criminal. He will serve as showrunner with Ben Taylor (Catastrophe) as director. The series is produced by All3Media-owned British producer New Pictures, which was behind 2019 HBO/Sky co-pro Catherine The Great, and Kay’s Observatory Pictures.
Executive producers include Kay, Taylor, Willow Grylls, Matt Sandford, Susan Breen, Andrea Dewsbury and Megan Spanjian.
War will air on HBO and HBO Max in the U.S. and stream on HBO Max in Australia, while Sky will air it in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution has international sales rights.
