Is Hollywood Brown playing tonight? Why Chiefs WR is off to poor start in Week 8

The Kansas City Chiefs went from not having much help at wide receiver early in the season due to a suspension and injury, to having an embarrassment of riches, which includes Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

Browns entered Week 8 ranked second in passing yards among all Chiefs pass-catchers behind Travis Kelce, and first among all wide receiver.

However, Brown has not been able to get going early on in the Week 8 game against Kansas City. Here’s a closer look at what’s going on.

Is Hollywood Brown playing tonight?

UPDATE: Late in the fourth quarter and Brown hasn’t so much as seen a single target since his lone one early in the game. It looks like he’s going to finish with a bagel in the box score.

UPDATE: The Chiefs are red hot in the third quarter and have totaled two scoring drives. Sadly, that hasn’t done anything for Brown’s production, which is still nil.

UPDATE: We are through two quarters in Kansas City and Brown is still sitting with his lone target and no catches. It wasn’t a pretty first half for the Chiefs’ offense, so that certainly didn’t help.

UPDATE: The Chiefs put together a scoring drive on their third series but Brown was once again not involved in the action.

Yes, Brown is playing and has even been targeted over two drives, but he hasn’t come up with a reception yet.

Unfortunately for Brown, he has a lot more competition for targets now that Rashee Rice is back and Xavier Worthy is healthy, so it’s going to be difficult for him to get going.

Hopefully that changes on drive No. 3.
