Coronation Street fans were quick to gush over Eva Price’s return to the cobbles as they felt it reminded them of “classic” Corrie.

On Monday (October 27), Eva Price returned to Coronation Street after seven years away from Weatherfield. Her entrance onto the cobbles came with a surprise – she’s the new landlady of the Rovers Return.

It didn’t take long for news to spread about her return, and soon her sister Leanne Battersby had a catch up with Eva. Of course, Leanne and Toyah fell out recently after Toyah started a relationship with Nick Tilsley.

Ever the diplomat, Eva said: “I just think the three of us need to sit down and sort things out” as she urged Leanne to invite Toyah along.

However, things soon took a turn when Leanne made her way over to the Bistro and walked in on Nick proposing to Toyah.

Toyah brushed off the proposal and met up with her sisters, while Eva kicked customers out of her pub and made way for the fiery reunion.

That wasn’t the only fire, however, as Maria Connor was enraged to see Eva had returned to Weatherfield.

As viewers may recall, Maria had an affair with Eva’s fiancé Aidan Connor and their feud went down in the history books.

Speaking about their feud, Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) shared: “She had an affair with Aidan, and Eva loves a grudge. So, they’re writing really well for Eva and Maria.

“It’s kind of like the new Eileen and Gail scenario, but that’s great fun. It’s great telly.”

She continued: “Samia (Longchambon) and I are great friends in real life, we have such a giggle playing out these storylines, it is great.”

Viewers are loving Eva’s return to Corrie, and gushed over how it feels like the older, classic episodes of the Manchester-based soap, particularly with the Maria scenes.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), @bobbarnes2005 wrote: “Loving tonight’s #Corrie. Eva is back! Classic Corrie moments” as @katiejukesy added: “The Eva and Maria feud is about to become the reason I’m existing”.

@chg3899 penned: “That was the best episode of Corrie in such a long time. It felt like the way it was before it went dark. I would love it if they kept it up. Eva’s return is brilliant and I tell you what I think Maggie is going to be an amazing character.”

Another viewer, @swarlanations agreed: “This is where #Corrie absolutely thrives. Community, the pub, good use of characters, strong script. It’s what makes a good soap. If they all start focusing more on this and less time on stunts and murders, they can win back the audience.”

@patphoenix9 gushed: “Great episode of #corrie tonight. Eva & the Driscoll’s full of promise and good to see some classic Leanne and Toyah teased. Feels like a big marker for Kate Brooks ambition for the show. Good character interactions and the Rovers brought to life.”
