Soup mix recalled in Canada due to ‘presence of insects’

Check your pantry, Canada, because the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a soup brand mix due to the “presence of insects.”
The recall notice, which was issued Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, is for Mitchell’s Soup Co. brand of Curried Chickpea Stew Mix.
According to the notice, the affected product has a best-before date of September 2026.
CFIA has categorized the waffle recall as a Class 3, which means “there is a low risk that consuming the food may result in any undesirable health problems.” However, CFIA is advising people not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.
In other recall news, a popular Dollarama snack was recently recalled due to mold.
Earlier this year, recalled salami in Canada caused nearly 100 cases of salmonella.
Over 100 Canadians also became sick due to a salmonella outbreak tied to pistachio products between March and September.
Costco recalled its 5 kg bag of Kirkland Signature Traditional Basmati Rice due to the “possible presence of insects.”
And a popular Canadian whisky brand was recalled in several provinces this summer due to “extraneous material.”
