Ligue 1 predictions, odds & best tips: PSG expected to maintain grip on top spot

Paris Saint-Germain returned to top spot in Ligue 1 over the weekend, and the French champions will be heavy favourites to maintain their position at the end of matchday ten.

Luis Enrique’s men head to Lorient on Wednesday, while the Allianz Riviera clash between Nice and high-scoring Lille is another eye-catching midweek fixture.

Le Havre vs Brest

Kick-off: 6pm Wednesday

There is little to separate these two teams in the bottom half of Ligue 1, but there should be plenty of goals when Le Havre host Brest. Seven of Brest’s last nine Ligue 1 away games have seen three or more goals, while Le Havre have conceded 16 in nine matches. Back over 2.5 goals.

Prediction: Over 2.5 goals

Lorient vs Paris Saint-Germain

Kick-off: 6pm Wednesday

Five of Paris Saint-Germain’s six Ligue 1 wins have come without conceding, and they are expected to extend that run against Lorient, who have lost five of their nine league matches and were kept scoreless in a 2-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Angers last time out.

Prediction: PSG to win to nil

Metz vs Lens

Kick-off: 6pm Wednesday

Lens are in form and look the likely winners. The visitors have won six of their nine league games and should have little trouble overcoming Metz, who have taken just two points from a possible 21 this season and possess both the worst attacking and defensive records in the top flight.

Prediction: Lens

Nice vs Lille

Kick-off: 6pm Wednesday

An intriguing clash between two teams with European ambitions sees Nice host Lille, and both sides are expected to find the net. Six of the last seven Ligue 1 meetings between these teams have seen both sides score, while Lille are the top scorers this season with 22 goals in nine matches.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score

Marseille vs Angers

Kick-off: 8.05pm Wednesday

Marseille are expected to bounce back from their defeat to Lens with a win to nil over Angers, who are the joint-lowest scorers in Ligue 1. OM are usually solid at home and should be able to keep their opponents at bay.

Prediction: Marseille to win to nil

Nantes vs Monaco

Kick-off: 8.05pm Wednesday

Monaco are the best bet for an away win. They pose a greater threat in the final third than Nantes, who are among the lowest scorers in the division with just seven goals in nine matches. The visitors, by contrast, have scored 18 goals and could simply outscore their opponents.

Prediction: Monaco

Paris FC vs Lyon

Kick-off: 8.05pm Wednesday

Lyon are the best bet to claim an away win. Paris FC have had a solid enough start to their top-flight campaign following promotion, but they have lost five of their nine league matches and look set for another defeat against Lyon, who have already won six games.

Prediction: Lyon

Strasbourg vs Auxerre

Kick-off: 8.05pm Wednesday

Strasbourg look the best bet when they host Auxerre in Ligue 1. Liam Rosenior’s side are expected to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Lyon against Auxerre, who have lost six of their last eight league games and earned just a single point on their travels.

Prediction: Strasbourg

Toulouse vs Rennes

Kick-off: 8.05pm Wednesday

There is very little to separate Toulouse and Rennes in the Ligue 1 table, and the same could be true when they meet in this mid-table clash. Rennes have drawn five of their nine league matches and may have to settle for another stalemate against these opponents.

Prediction: Draw
