Pratika Rawal joins the elite with the fastest 1000 ODI runs, matches a 37-year record set by Lindsay Reeler

In the World Cup match against New Zealand at DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, Indian opener Pratika Rawal equalled a decades-old record by becoming the joint-fastest player to reach 1000 runs in ODIs. She matched the feat of Australia’s Lindsay Reeler, who set the record 37 years ago by reaching 1000 runs in just 23 innings.

Rawal reached this milestone in her 23rd ODI innings, surpassing Meg Lanning, Laura Wolvaardt, and Mithali Raj. She needed only 12 runs to complete the landmark and achieved it with ease.

She also became the quickest Indian to accumulate 1000 runs in the 50-over format, breaking the previous record held by Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma, who took 29 innings each. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana reached 1000 runs in 30 and 33 innings respectively.
