Townships, boroughs reschedule trick-or-treating due to rain concerns

Several communities across south-central Pennsylvania have rescheduled trick-or-treating, hoping to avoid potential rain Thursday evening.

The following boroughs and townships have announced date changes:

York County

Trick-or-treating in Carroll Township, Dillsburg Borough, Monaghan Township and Franklintown Borough has been moved to Friday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m., the Carroll Township Police Department announced.

Dauphin County

Trick-or-treating for the whole city of Harrisburg—including uptown, downtown, midtown, Allison Hill, Hall Manor, Shipoke, and South Harrisburg/Bellevue Park—has been moved from Thursday, Oct. 30 to Friday, Oct. 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the city announced on Facebook.

Royalton Borough also rescheduled trick-or-treating to Friday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.

Cumberland County

East Pennsboro Township and Upper Allen Township have postponed trick-or-treating until Saturday, Nov. 1 from 4-6 p.m.

“This decision was made in the interest of public safety due to the forecasted heavy rain and resulting low visibility concerns,” East Pennsboro Township wrote in an email.

Hampden Township has moved its trick-or-treat night to Friday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.

“Residents, with children, may decide if they wish to participate in door-to-door Trick or Treat activities and individual property owners may choose whether or not they wish to distribute treats from their residence,” the township said. “Hampden Township does not sponsor any Halloween or Trick or Treat related activities. The Township merely establishes a uniform date and time for residents who wish to participate.”
