Trump Attacks ‘Fools’ Who Are Against Tariffs, Touts $2,000 Dividend Checks

President Donald Trump has criticized “fools” opposing his sweeping tariffs while again promising a dividend of “at least” $2,000 to many Americans.
The Supreme Court is weighing up whether Trump has the authority to impose the wide-reaching raft of tariffs that quickly became a linchpin of his administration’s foreign policy. Lower courts have deemed the economic measures an overreach of power.
Trump has said it would be “devastating for our country” if the court rules against his tariffs but that officials would develop a new plan.
“People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS!,” Trump said in a post to his Truth Social platform on Sunday. “We are now the Richest, Most Respected Country In the World, With Almost No Inflation, and A Record Stock Market Price.”
“A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone,” the President said. In a post immediately after, he said “none” of the purported benefits to the U.S. are possible without tariffs.
This is a developing story. Updates to follow.
