Aldi shoppers confess to hilarious mistake with ‘confusing’ product

Aldi shoppers have confessed to making a hilarious mistake with what they describe as a confusing product.

At first glance, Doggy Dessert ice creams by Julius Treatz appear to be a fun ice cream concept for humans.

The package states it is “limited time only,” alongside a photo of a bulldog wearing sunglasses and licking an ice cream scoop.

It doesn’t help that the product is found in the frozen section alongside human desserts.

But upon closer inspection, the information explaining this particular dessert wasn’t made for us were right there on the pack.

“With real fruit and veggies,” the ice cream pack also stated.

“Frozen doggy treats. PET FOOD ONLY!”

However, for those who did give them a try, there’s no harm done.

The ingredients listed includes diced carrot, glucose syrup, coconut oil, apple puree, oat flour, pea protein and rice protein.

Perfectly edible, just not the ice cream experience human customers were likely expecting in frozen dessert.

Aldi shoppers took to Reddit’s ‘Aldi Australia’ thread to confess their mistaken.

“Go on, who at them?” a Redditor asked on the thread alongside of a photo of the pet treat.

They said: “3 Aldi stores in my area have these dog treats amongst the human food (at least at this one was at the end, others I’ve seen in between human items). I made a joke to grab them and my partner didn’t even click that it was actually dog food.

“So go on, who’s actually eaten them and just realising now?! Hahahahaha.”

”No joke I had a lady scream at me when I used to work there because she took one of these home and ate it,” one former Aldi employee said.

“Like the word ‘Doggy’ on the front wasn’t a giveaway for some people apparently.”

“They’re not inedible, but they aren’t going to win any culinary prizes. Neither the worst nor the best of the dog treats I’ve sampled,” another said.

Another shared: “I bought two boxes for my dogs. They loved them. Bit weird they’re kept next to the frozen deserts, but I get why.”

“I haven’t been to Aldi recently. But at first glance, I’m not sure if I would have known they were for dogs( even though it says ‘doggy’.

“I might have thought it was just a funny name, like ‘Freddo frogs’ or something, especially because ‘dog food ‘ isn’t usually with other food items.”

One Redditor shared this comforting thought.

Frozen treats without the sugar high

“After reading the ingredients and realising that it is essentially a vegan ice cream, I decided to have a spoonful and It tastes like some sort of apple sorbet.
