Why ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ & ‘Chicago P.D.’ Won’t Air New Episodes Until 2026

The One Chicago franchise is wrapping up with fall finales tonight (November 12) and fans might be upset to learn that it might be weeks before the shows return with new episodes to NBC.
Chicago Med will air its new episode – titled “Double Down” – at 8pm ET, followed by Chicago Fire‘s new episode, “Pierce the Vein,” at 9pm ET, and then ending with Chicago P.D. at 10 pm ET with a new ep – titled “Impulse Control.”
So, when will the shows be back and why will they be breaking in the first place!?

NBC has not officially confirmed when the shows will be back, but it’s assumed to be January, 2026.
While it may seem like a bummer, it’s actually very common for TV shows to take breaks for the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s holidays.
It looks like this year, NBC is opting to have a several-week long hiatus between episodes to allow for an extended break for the holidays before picking up again in the new year.
