Patrick Bamford in Sheffield United talks despite X-rated chant about Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford, the former Leeds United striker, is in talks with Sheffield United as a free-agent signing, seven months after the player led chants calling Chris Wilder a “w——”.
Bamford has been assessing options after leaving Leeds by mutual consent at the start of the campaign when Daniel Farke, the club’s manager, made it clear he was not part of his Premier League plans.
The 32-year-old has trained at Championship leaders Coventry City, with former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard allowing him to keep fit while he looked for a new deal.
Sheffield United have now made their move for the player and are close to adding him to Wilder’s squad as they look to climb out of relegation trouble with the club currently 22nd in the Championship and without a win in four games.
The Sheffield United manager insisted he had “no issue at all” with Bamford after he led chants against him following Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League last season. Social media clips showed the striker starting a chant against Wilder, mocking him.
“I am a big boy, you give it, you take it,” said Wilder, who spoke with Bamford after the footage emerged.
