Skandalakis takes charge of Trump’s Georgia election interference case

(TNND) — The high-profile racketeering indictment case against former President Donald Trump and several allies, concerning their attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, is progressing under new leadership.
The case has been reassigned, according to CNN, to Peter Skandalakis, Director of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia, following a legal dispute that led to the removal of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
Skandalakis, who oversees a bipartisan group of six district attorneys and three solicitors general from across Georgia, had previously indicated he might personally handle the case if no other prosecutor was available.
In a statement released Friday morning obtained by several national news outlets, Skandalakis confirmed his appointment, stating, “This morning, an Administrative Order appointing me to the case of State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump, et al. was filed with the Clerk of the Superior Court of Fulton County.”
