Open Thread: Area 51 go triple-double

The Spurs loss last night was a heart-breaker. They started strong against a road weary Warriors coming into the Frost Bank Center on the second night of a back to back. In the end, Stephen Curry did what he does. A 22-point third quarter gave the Warriors the lead, and eventually they had enough distance to keep the Spurs at arms length for the final frame.

With the clock winding down, Stephon Castle nabbed his tenth rebound, earning him his first ever triple-double. Seconds later, on the last play if the game, Victor Wembanyama lobbed a cross-court pass to Devin Vassell to seal his tenth assist, ending the night with a triple-double of hisn own.

Both players landing a triple-double on the same night was the first in Spurs franchise history. Eighteenth time in NBA history.

But that was last night…

Today is the one-year anniversary of Victor Wembanyama’s 50-point game.

Spurs can redeem themselves tomorrow night as they face the Warriors again. This time it’s part of the Emirates Cup.
