MMA fighter allegedly attacked 2 police officers on international fight during arrest

GRAN CANARIA, Canary Islands (WKRC) – An MMA fighter allegedly repeatedly struck two police officers while resisting arrest on an international flight.
Sinead Kavanagh, 39, was arrested before takeoff on a Ryanair flight from Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands to Dublin Ireland, according to local outlet Atlántico Hoy.
The officers were called to the plane after aircraft commander aborted takeoff despite already being on the tarmac because of violet behavior Kavanagh was exhibiting in the cockpit, the outlet reported.
A passenger recorded the altercation between Kavanagh and the two responding officers, the video of which was obtained by the outlet. Both officers were reportedly placed on medical leave due to the severity of their injuries.
Kavanagh was eventually detained and spent the night in an airport holding cell, according to Canarias7. Atlántico Hoy reported that Kavanagh was charged with assaulting a police officer.

Kavanagh is a MMA fighter that previously won multiple national championships in Irish amateur boxing before transitioning to mixed martial arts. She was informally mentored by MMA superstar Conor McGregor, the outlets reported.
