Only the first two of David Reidy’s 14 years as a senior club hurler didn’t correspond with Ballygunner being county champions in Waterford. It took Reidy until last month for his first senior club championship medal in Clare, achieved as captain. By then he had a priceless Celtic Cross and a National League medal from 2016. But club is different gravy.

Over his time hurling with Éire Óg, he has been 10 times a county quarter-finalist, twice a semi-finalists, once a losing finalist. Going into this year’s Clare quarter-finals you could have picked any of the eight as a potential winner. But Éire Óg reached the summit with Reidy firing over four points from play in the final against Clooney Quin.
