Liverpool confirmed XI vs. Sunderland: 1 change with Salah benched again!

Mohamed Salah is on the bench again as Liverpool host Sunderland in an 8.15pm kickoff, with Arne Slot making only one change to his winning side from last time out.

After a rare win against West Ham on Sunday, the Premier League champions will look to follow it up at home to surprise package Sunderland.

That comes with Salah left on the bench for a second game running as Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak are rewarded for their goals at West Ham.

This is only the second time in Salah’s nine seasons at Liverpool that he has been benched in consecutive games – his longest run was three games as a substitute in February to March 2024 as he returned from a hamstring tear post-Africa Cup of Nations.

Liverpool: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak

Substitutes: Mamardashvili, Endo, Kerkez, Jones, Nyoni, Salah, Chiesa, Ngumoha, Ekitike

Sunderland: Sunderland: Roefs; Mukiele, Hume, Ballard, Alderete, Reinildo; Xhaka, Sadiki, Talbi, Le Fee; Brobbey

Substitutes: Patterson, O’Nien, Geertruida, Neil, Mundle, Adingra, Traore, Mayenda, Isidor
