Gassama Urges Rangers Fans to Show Patience

Rangers winger Djeidi Gassama has urged supporters to keep perspective as the squad looks to return to winning ways against Dundee United tonight, insisting the group remains fully focused on delivering a strong response after Sunday’s disappointing draw with Falkirk.

Gassama, speaking shortly after celebrating the birth of his second child, an event that left him restricted to the bench at the weekend, acknowledged both the frustration felt by fans and the responsibility on the players to raise their levels in the final third.

The 0–0 stalemate at Ibrox brought to an end Rangers run of four consecutive Premiership victories under head coach Danny Röhl, and some supporters voiced their displeasure at the lack of cutting edge during the match.

But Gassama believes the criticism must be balanced with the broader context of recent performances.

“I think it was tough because we were unbeaten for five games,” he told Premier Sports.

“We have to keep that for today. We just stick to the manager’s plan.

“We just need three points and that’s it.”

While Gassama made clear he understands the reaction from the stands, he reminded supporters that no team can expect straightforward fixtures in the Premiership, especially when facing compact, defensive opponents.

“Yes, I think I understand,” he said of the fans’ disappointment.

“But you know in football, every game is not easy to win.

“In five games, we don’t lose. They have to understand that football is not easy.”

Despite urging patience, the winger also accepted the responsibility on the players to provide a sharper attacking display.

Danny Röhl highlighted after Sunday’s match that Rangers lacked a decisive edge around the penalty area, with promising situations breaking down at key moments. Gassama agreed that small improvements could make a big difference tonight.

“On Sunday we had a lot of situations where we could have done better,” he admitted.

“We watched the video in training. Now today you have to be clinical in the front and in the box as well.”

With injuries continuing to limit Rangers attacking options, Gassama is one of several players expected to shoulder more of the creative and goalscoring burden at Tannadice.

His pace, directness and ability to disrupt defensive lines may prove crucial against a Dundee United side that has struggled for results but remain aggressive under manager Jim Goodwin.

Gassama insists belief within the squad is strong and that tonight’s match is an opportunity to reset momentum.

“I think today is going to be okay,” he said calmly.

“We have to improve for this game to win and go forward.”
